Glencairn Community Trust

Glencairn Community Trust exists to provide an umbrella organisation for the organisation and execution of a diverse range of projects within the Parish of Glencairn.  We are able to work with other local groups and provide them with a sound structure of financial management, an expertise in fund raising and experience of managing large projects.

In some cases once a project is up and running it is wholly transferred to the local group. Cairn Valley Community Transport was a case in question where the Community Trust raised the funds needed to purchase and operate a viable Community Bus service. This was then transferred to the local group who have continued to operate the service.

We have also been actively involved in running several projects to give local young people the opportunity to learn new skills and try fun things ranging from film making and music to computer skills and first aid. These projects are now completed but we maintain a bank of equipment purchased with part of the funding and that is available for use by any member or group in the Parish of Glencairn.

Current projects still controlled and operated by the Community Trust are:

Moniaive Folk Festival

Now entering its 8th year.

Moniaive Playcare

This project raised funding for equipment and wages to run an after school childcare facility. It operates in the premises of Moniaive Primary School and provides working with childcare before and after the school day. The highly qualified staff delivers a varied programme of activities for the children using the service.
