Wether Hill WindfarmWether Hill WindfarmIn 2005 Glencairn Community Council voted to set up Glencairn Community Council Windfarm Trust to handle the community fund from Wether Hill Windfarm in Glencairn.

They further decided that the whole Community Council should sit on this committee which will be in charge of processing applications from the community.

They would set the criteria and finalise the agreement with Scottish Power Renewables. Minutes of the special meetings held to date follow. Plus report of meeting with Contractors and SPR, Project manager etc.

The results of the allocation meeting in September 2009 are:

The allocation meeting to dispense funds from the year’s payment received from Wether Hill. Payment to the fund is made to us once a year but we hold two allocation meetings in the year to allow projects started after the first allocation a chance to apply without having to wait a full year.
This time round six applications were received for varying amounts from:
1) 1st. Cairn Valley Guides.  Awarded £1,009 for new and replacement equipment, travel etc:
2) 1st. Cairn Valley Brownies.  Awarded £1,010 for new and replacement equipment, travel etc:
3) Moniaive Memorial institute.  Awarded £5,000 for re-painting the exterior of building.
4) Gazette.   Awarded £4,500 for continued publication of the local newspaper.
5) Glencairn and Moniaive Parish Church. Awarded £4,222 for repair & replacement of stained glass window.
6) Glencairn Bowling Club. Awarded £3,795 for a new lawn mower.

The next allocation meeting will take place in March 2010. Applicants should return completed application forms to the Community Council by the end of February 2010. Applcation forms available in pdf or word format from sue@badpress.demon.co.uk.
